How Do You Define Success?

Were you voted most likely to succeed? I’m unashamed to say, I was not. As with most graduating classes, that distinction went to the student who either had the best grades, was a superior athlete, or considered the most popular.

It’s funny the impact that can be made having your potential evaluated by a bunch of teenagers, or peers who are just as unprepared and unemployed as you are. In any case, those predictions are not what truly matter. What counts in life is how you see yourself. So right now, how do you see you?

Shinequa sees herself – SUCCESSFUL!

In an online article by Dan Elias Bliss, we find the following quotes on the definition of success:
“For Barack, success isn’t about how much money you make. It’s about the difference you make in people’s lives.” –First Lady Michelle Obama.
“I measure success by how many people love me.” –Warren Buffet.
“Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”-Maya Angelou.

Success Begins With Prioritizing and Planning
Many things fight for our attention these days. While most of us already know what should get most of our time and attention, our actions don’t always reflect that. I believe one of the reasons we get thrown off track in setting and reaching goals is not taking the time to sit down and clearly identify what we truly value and come up with a way to match our efforts with those priorities.

Give some serious thought to the matter. Once you are satisfied that you know what you want to accomplish this year–you will be ready for the Personal Success Set Up.

Write the Vision.

God put you in charge of your life. In the book of Habakkuk, the prophet repeats the word that came to him from The Lord…“Write the Vision, make it plain upon tables that he that reads it may run.”

Brandon knows where he is going!

Make the Vision Plain.

The next part of Habakkuk’s message is “Make it Plain,” which means that our priorities should be simple and easy to understand.

“Have a better relationship with my family” or “Spend less time at work” sounds good. Both are important, but the more specific you are, the easier it is to determine a way to realize those priorities.

Do you want to put 100 dollars in a savings account each month? Be definite about what your priorities are.

Lavoris’s Vision is for all people! Look out world!

The benefit of writing all of this down is the ability to look back at or adjust it when necessary. Writing it down also helps you better see it in your mind’s eye.
